Which APCI ceramic is best for my application?
Physical and piezoelectric properties of APCI materials and
Ferroperm materials, and recommended applications for these
materials, are presented in the Materials
section of this site. If a review of this information does not
answer your questions, an APCI representative can help you make
the best decision.
Custom Orders
A large part of our business is custom-preparing ceramic
elements to customer specifications. We can manufacture a wide
range of shapes, using our broad selection of ceramic materials.
We will be glad to help you design a project, or select a
ceramic composition and a piezo shape for an existing design.

Electrical Leads
We will attach leads on request. Our standard leads are 28AWG x
2" or 4" or 26AWG x 1.25", 4", or 6",
parallel arranged. For alternative leads please specify AWG and
length and, if appropriate, provide a drawing showing the
desired locations.
If you choose to attach your own leads, be sure to read our
technical note Securing a
Stripe Actuator; Attaching Electrical Leads for
descriptions of appropriate materials and procedures.
Testing
We will test ceramic materials and elements according to your
needs. We can implement processes for:
- industrial standards
- military specifications
- sampling plans
- customer-defined programs
For fired ceramic elements, we routinely monitor physical
dimensions, capacitance, d33 value, and frequency.
Dimensional tolerances for our stock ceramic parts are listed
on the Products / Services:
Tolerances page. We can tighten dimensional tolerances
on request.
Standard tolerances for electric / piezoelectric characteristics
are:
- capacitance: ±20%
- d33 value: ±20%
- frequency: ±5% (to ±0.5% on request)
