Piezo Materials for Sensing Applications
APC International has begun production of its two primary piezo materials for sensing applications at the company’s new piezo powder manufacturing facility in Mackeyville, Pennsylvania.
APC 850 has the best overall combination of piezoelectric properties for the majority of piezo sensors.
APC 855 offers greater sensitivity than APC 850. However, APC 855’s greater sensitivity comes at the cost of a lower use temperature and a higher dissipation factor.
APC 850 & APC 855 are used by APC’s customers in a wide variety of sensing applications, including:
– Accelerometers
– Level Sensors
– Flow Sensors
– Medical Ultrasound
– Musical Pick-ups
By manufacturing these sensing materials at APC’s new facility in Pennsylvania, APC’s engineering staff are able to exercise more oversight over the quality and consistency of the piezo powders used as the raw materials for the majority of APC’s piezoelectric ceramic product lines. APC has also begun to work with a select number of customers to develop new piezo materials that will exhibit combinations of piezoelectric properties tailored for the customer’s specific piezo sensing application.
