APC Offers Many Options for Piezoelectric Materials
APC International has provided its customers with high purity piezoelectric materials that display low variability in their mechanical and electric properties for almost thirty years.

Just recently APC expanded its capabilities to manufacture its full line of proprietary piezo materials at the company’s headquarters in central Pennsylvania. Materials to be manufactured in APC’s new material facility include: APC 850, APC 855, APC 840, APC 841, and APC 840. In addition to manufacturing APC’s standard piezo materials, our new material facility will allow APC’s engineering team to work with customers to develop a wide range of custom high quality lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT) materials.
Piezoelectric materials offered by APC fall into two broad categories: soft piezoelectric materials and hard piezoelectric materials.
Soft Piezoelectric Materials (APC 850 & APC 855) exhibit:
– larger piezoelectric constants
– higher permittivity
– larger dielectric constants
– higher dielectric losses
– larger electromechanical coupling factors
– low mechanical quality factors
– lower coercive field
– poor linearity
– easier to depolarize
– properties ideal for sensing applications
Hard Piezoelectric Materials (APC 840, 841 & 880) exhibit:
– smaller piezoelectric constants
– lower permittivity
– smaller dielectric constants
– lower dielectric losses
– smaller electromechanical coupling factors
– high mechanical quality factors
– higher coercive field
– better linearity
– harder to depolarize
– properties ideal for high power applications
