Developing a new piezoelectric sensor or ultrasonic transducer?  APC now stocks “standard” piezoelectric ceramics in shapes and sizes that are commonly used in these applications. APC maintains a stock of the following ceramics:

Careful Soldering Ensures Piezoelectric Ceramics Don’t De-Pole
Care must be taken when soldering leads to piezoelectric ceramics. Solder too quickly and you will get a poor solder joint. Linger too long and you may de-pole the piezoelectric ceramic. De-poling the piezo element returns the dipoles in the ceramic to their random orientation and renders the piezo unusable. APC has prepared instructions for our customers on how to solder to piezoelectric ceramics. APC has also prepared a review of lead free solder options. We encourage our customers to review this information before attempting to solder leads to piezoelectric ceramics purchased from APC.
